Various Artists – Nebulous

► STREAM & DOWNLOAD

A compilation of deep-space House Music conjuring up images of the never-ending vastness of the universe. Figuratively speaking, the word ‘Nebulous’ can elicit notions of ‘consternation’, or even an unexplainable creative force. We feel that this compilation, curated by Atjazz, is House Music. Yet, it shouldn’t necessarily be forced into a specific genre category, and therefore, this release should be granted its freedom to permeate ‘throughout space’, if you will.

Abel – Cosmic Law

Follow: Abel

There’s a rich sense of heritage to be gained by listening to ‘Cosmic Law’. It’s the new album on Atjazz Record Company from Abel, the distinctly polished house project from renowned DJ and producer, Steve Butler. From catching the house bug in the late 80s as a devout collector, his DJ career went from strength to strength. It saw him perform across some of the UK’s most prestigious nights, not to mention internationally.

Since Abel’s first album, 2017’s ‘Rough or Smooth’, Steve Butler has fraternised with some of the scene’s major players. For ‘Cosmic Law’, he’s also collaborated with some notable talents and musicians. Lloyd Wright delivers guitar and bass performances on the album and is a band member of Smoove and Turrell. Relish bass performance by Stan Woodward and trumpet by Ferg Kilsby, both members of Knats, whilst label mate Ross Hillard, a.k.a., Magic Number, drives ‘Traveller’ with his legendary bass skills. In addition, revel in exquisite vocal performances by both Rona Ray and Sabrina Chyld.

The scene is set as ‘Cosmic Law’ opens with ‘Traveller’. It initiates the theme of journeys through music and life, all in harmony with the universe. ‘Let’s Meet Again’ ushers in atmospheric keys and warm strings. It’s adorned by a trumpet performance that wouldn’t sound out of place in a smoky jazz club in the early hours. Together, they dance over a bouncy, percussive 4×4.

Can’t Let You Go featuring Rona Ray’, hears this earthy vocalist paint a picture as emotional as the sentiment behind the title. A bracing performance and a heart-stopping breakdown close this gem. Rona’s second appearance on ‘Cosmic Law’ is ‘In My Dreams’. Its moody verse is switched up a gear by an irresistible chorus, cementing the meaning behind the title of this song. Add a bouncing bass line, and you’re sure to hit repeat.

I Just Can’t Wait’ will perk up the ears of anyone passionate about the Balearic sound. It covers an original song by Mandy Smith, and the hugely talented ARCo regular, Sabrina Chyld, takes this classic to new heights. ‘Latin Love’ conveys just that. Nylon-stringed guitar, lush percussion and an uplifting atmosphere ascend us into the early hours.

“The title of this project supports my beliefs in a universal force”, reflected Steve. “After a Deepak Chopra meditation, the album started taking its intended shape, and I was soon connected with the talents of Stan, Ferg and Rona Ray”, he mused.

Include keys, additional production and mentoring courtesy of the owner of the eponymously named home of this release, and we have 11 songs of sheer substance. All convey the force behind this long player’s name. So to sink into this magnificent release, what are you waiting for? Experience ‘Cosmic Law’ now! Atjazz – Track 9 (Mix 1) – Almost there…

We ask, what comes next Atjazz?, You’ve teased us for a year releasing these singular Tracks, and now we wan’t to know, what is at the end of the journey?

“You’ll have to wait and see!” Atjazz

The penultimate original in this killer Track series from Atjazz. Track 9 (Mix 1) leaves a spiritual marker in place, deep and thoughtful yet persistent musical textures and booming house beats. It’s time to close your eyes and take in the music. Atjazz is almost at the end of Part 1 in this series, there a lot more to come as he stamps his assonant trademark on route.

Atjazz – Track 7 (Mix 1) The lucky number 7!

Seventh in his recent series, Atjazz strips it down to a minimal level using only analogue sound sources. Starting out barefoot, the track then unfolds to a blissful and dense peak before letting you drift through the final decent. Another no-nonsense dance-floor release from Martin Iveson aka Atjazz as he continues his musical journey through sound, stamping his assonant trademark on route.

D-Malice – Phases OUT NOW!…

After spending his career popping up the hottest spots you can find in club-land, in-between running his own label DM Recordings and producing quality vibes with such talents as Kid Fonque, Jonny Miller and Rancido, please join us in welcoming back our good friend and collaborator – D-Malice.  Taking time out of his hectic schedule, and following up the release of the “All This Time” & “All This Time Remixes” with Kid Fonque, D-Malice has brought his skills to the fore again with solo ARCo debut offering: ‘Phases’.

We start with ‘#87’ and the mood is set instantly.  Kicking off with straight up beats and low melodic tones that evoke the feelings and groove of the legendary Lil’ Louis at his finest, this pumping masterpiece reaches through your body and into your hips, daring you not to dance.  We can promise you won’t be able to resist moving to this!

D-Malice (Black3)

Then D-Malice introduces his trademark low bass and deep afro-beats and steps up to the podium with ‘Phases’.  Taking all things musical to a more interesting pitch, with a soothing and smoothing soundscape that runs up and down your spine, D-Malice peppers an insistent and effortless melody over a thoroughly enjoyable dance-floor goto.

We then return to ‘Phases’ with a remix that is ‘Expressive’ in more than just name.  Stepping up another gear, we are welcomed to a realm of low range tones and light percussive touches that brings D-Malice’s musical odyssey to new heights and leaves us begging for more, as he usually does with his ever popular ‘Expressive Dubs’.

A few words from Atjazz “I have always been intrigued by the sounds of D-Malice, I’ve also seen him perform on a few occasions, and I have to put it out there that he is one of the best afro-house DJs I’ve seen play live. No tricks, just honest hard work, and you can hear it in his music, he cares and that is the first block in his wall of sound, which is standing very strong. Phases had to come out via ARCo., it really suits us down the ground, Techy in parts, afro of course & just very well crafted dance-music.”

Fred Everything Ô / Her • Limited White Vinyl •

Atjazz Record Company is pleased to welcome back prolific artist and dapper gent Fred Everything.  From Canada to the UK, this skillful and ever-present producer brings over 20 years of talent and experience to bear on this exciting new release.
We delve into the offering firstly with the titular track: ‘Ô’.  A soft and muted start slowly builds up into a fizzy melodic vibe that is undercut with a tasty bass riff.  As the track drives on, the harmonies continue to build until they crescendo with a dreamy high-end hook juxtaposed with stippled sour characters.
Then Mr ARCo. himself, Atjazz, enters the fray with the Galaxy Aart Remix.  Staccato rhythms and active bass notes combine with engaging pops of synth to further illustrate Atjazz’s mastering of his craft.
We follow this with ‘Her’, a meaty beats and bass orgy that effortlessly builds into a shimmering and crystalline cut.  This track perfectly showcases Fred’s commitment to quality legitimate music and you will not be disappointed!

We conclude with the shorter and sharper ‘Devil In The Dub’ remix where only the lightest of tweaks and touches is applied, but this brings a fresh and compelling sound to an already impressive track.

Rocco – Quantum Project One

Those of you who know your house will be very well aware of this man. After 20 years in the scene, and filling stadiums across the world, French maestro Rocco lands in the UK with his latest release. A man who is used to associating with the likes of Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox and Alex Santos, Rocco is blessing Atjazz Record Company by following up his extensive canon of awe-inspiring music and granting us access to his brand new effort: P3 Jazz.

Driving beats and heavy atmosphere permeate this release and fans of Rocco will certainly recognise the clever percussion and moody riffs. As we progress deeper into Rocco’s world we find further flecks of brilliance peppered throughout the release, be it 80s-influenced pops of electro-notes or snare hits that drive into your ears and down through your spine to get those hips moving.

Then, as Rocco ascends, we find ourselves unexpectedly introduced to some breathier, more disco-infused elements that surprise and delight you with their distinct sounds and melodies. Bring in a brass section and the deal is sealed on Rocco’s latest masterpiece.

We don’t stop there though; the release is given the full remix treatment as the ARCo. family step into the fray, bringing some jagtime-tinged smooth notes and Brazilian percussive vibes to proceedings. Then we crescendo with a mood that both enervates and uplifts to polish off a complete sonic journey for you lucky listeners to undertake.
