Abel – Jazz In The Room (Jimpster & Peacey remixes)

► STREAM & DOWNLOAD

After an amazing festival season, with DJ after DJ dropping Abel’s last output ‘CAN’T LET YOU GO (FEAT. RONA RAY)’, we’ve some exciting development to disclose. We’re elated to announce that two of our favourite remixers have joined the ‘COSMIC LAW‘ lineup and will be remixing Abel’s ‘JAZZ IN THE ROOM’.

Although no introduction is needed, for the second time on the label, we’re more than stoked to welcome back the mighty ‘JIMPSTER’ on remix detail. ‘JIMPSTER’ does what only he can do, and he loads us with an outstanding arrangement and re-composition of Abel’s original. With layers almost impossible to unpeel, the groove is locked down tight. This rendition will undoubtedly become a mainstay for the true deep-house heads.

To enhance this offering further, our very own ‘PEACEY‘ steps up to the mixing desks. We’re incredibly proud of his almost untouchable quality of work, and this time ‘PEACEY’ turns out a brilliant remix-dub which builds gently, yet demonstrates total direction throughout.

Enjoy the ride folks! There’s “JAZZ IN THE ROOM”!

Ben Marc, The “Wait” is over! Seriously dubby music from a master of sound.

From the streets of Birmingham, via collaborations with names such as Jose James, Dizzee Rascal and ARCo supporter Gilles Peterson, to the studios of Derbyshire, Atjazz Record Company is proud to present our debut release from talented artist and remixer Ben Marc: Wait.

Giving us a taste of the style that fans have come to know from Ben we start with “Wait”, a tranquillising vocal note that resounds and reverberates over a layered and counterpointed percussive beat, dotted with elegant notes and snaps of melody.

Stepping further into Ben’s background as a fan of reggae & dub with “Safe Sounds”, a pressing hook slowly builds and we develop a deeper understanding of the intricate levels of production as the track unfolds in our ears and works it way through our senses.

We couldn’t let this release go by without giving it the full remix treatment and Atjazz duly obliges with the first effort which, in true style, pays homage to the original whilst putting a classic, rhythmic jazz-infused tint on proceedings.

Finally, prolific artist Si Tew arrives with his interpretation of the cut.  In typical Si Tew style his dub is more pensive and deeper than the usual fare and it’s all the more impressive for it.  With its light melodic notes and bursts of bass this is a perfect note on which to complete an exciting debut.

Si Tew, a man of many music talents knows no bounds, always stretching his ability to boggle the minds of his many fans and this time you all have to check out this slick off-the-cuff live performance of his sublime remix of ‘Poseidon‘ by our wonderful artist Elise. Molly who also appears on Si’s killer ‘Breathe’ lays down the vocals on this impromptu studio performance.

Si Tew, songwriter, producer & performer started his career in the spa town of ‘Leamington’. A then bedroom DJ and underground producer playing at gritty clubs and outdoor festivals drawing in large crowds of clubbers, by his late teens he soon saw his own potential and took a more professional attitude to his musical output. Simon attended University where he pushed his abilities as a producer running radio show broadcasts, recording vocalists & performing his ever popular DJ sets in venues across the midlands. Simon graduated University after being awarded his BSc hons. in Music Technology and went on even further snatching up the BBC Urban Music Bursary in 2005 for his outstanding talents.

Whilst he was deeply involved with the BBC Urban Music Bursary he met label Boss Martin Iveson who offered him an internship at his studio in the nearby city of Derby. Si Tew moved to Derby in 2007 setting up his own studio at the label headquarters. Here he began writing and recording for film and television whilst continuing to develop his own style as a fully- fledged audio professional.

With Martin aka ‘Atjazz’, Simon began his first collaboration under the moniker ‘Mist Works’ where he found himself able to express his musicality professionally with no boundaries and also with an end game being a record release. During this collaborative project he found himself pulling together his own songs and productions and built these pieces of work up into what turned out to be his Debut album ‘When the clouds ran away’.

All This Time (Remixes) are rather HOT!

https://soundcloud.com/atjazz/sets/kid-fonque-d-malice-all-this-1

You may remember a certain smash that dropped last year.  The deep melodic bass, coupled with a smooth, ethereal vocal that tickled your spine and got your head bobbing.  Kid Fonque & D-Malice showed a touch of class with last year’s release with Clara Hill:  All This Time.  Now we revisit this epic soundscape with a remix offering that will take the Atjazz Record Company into 2016 with a bang!

First up steps the boss, Martin Atjazz, with a smooth effort that carries all the hallmarks of his usual deep and moving mastery of his craft.  Building a world of sweeping notes and offbeat melodies around Clara Hill’s understated vocal, Atjazz sets us off in style.

Bringing a decidedly percussive feel to proceedings next is Boddhi Satva, whose driving beats and trademark Ancestral Soul vibe take us in a new direction.

Then finally arrives South African prodigy, Bruce Loko.  Loko is known for adding in unusual elements to his music and this is no different.  A rhythmic harp accompanies some otherworldy effects and popping string pulls to round off a sublime and intangible remix collection.

Si Tew – Breathe (feat. Molly) Official music video.

Eclectic producer, and dear friend of Atjazz Record Company, Si Tew returns from remixing the likes of Aloe Blacc and The Bamboos with a collaboration featuring the incredibly talented vocalist Molly to produce this moody sonic output. The exciting next step on his relationship with ARCo which began in 2009.

Coarse and detailed downbeat rhythms set the pace for the atmospheric number “Breathe” where it is pushed further into the realm of the ethereal by a delicate and lingering vocal that acts as a perfect counterpoint to the dark vibe of the piece.

Then up steps the master Martin Atjazz, alongside one of his partners in production TrueSelf (fresh off the worldwide release of his “The Good Cause” project), who keep the delightfully pitched vocal and layer up a hip-shaker of a melody underneath to keep the you moving. I dare you not to tap your foot to this one.

Si Tew then returns to the fray with a thoughtful remix which cleverly keeps the mood of the original cut but takes the otherworldly effect of Molly’s sweet vocal to the next level. A smooth and contemplative effort to close out a deep and pensive release.

Your ears will thank you!

At Ease… Soldiers By Soldiers is here!

Yes, it’s here, the superb remix package from Atjazz & OVEOUS’s Soldiers project.

Fresh from the exciting collaboration between the US and UK, OVEOUS and Atjazz reload the powerful story of “Soldiers” by inviting some of the most exciting talent in the deep house genre to further illuminate us by putting their own spin on an already profound journey of acceptance in the face of ignorance.  Welcome to “Soldiers By Soldiers”.

We kick off with DJ Tipz’s interpretation; a sleek and contemplative offering with a soft driving percussion to evoke the personal feel of OVEOUS’ lyrics.

Known for his eclectic style and high production values, Arnaud D adds a cutting synth and deep bass tone to proceedings with his “Deep Atmosphere Mix”.  Arnaud then goes further with his “Deeper Mix”, this time taking a smoother, almost effortless approach to the cut.

Up next is a frequent ARCo collaborator; the ever-popular award-winning Jullian Gomes whose remix floats a velvet synth over a deeper, funkier overall vibe.  Gomes then gives us a more introspective contribution by stepping up the melodies and concentrating on the overall feel of the dub on his second offering.

In steps a perfectionist in At One, whose remix evokes those early 90’s melodic hooks that devotees will appreciate and newcomers will love.

One half of the original duo, OVEOUS then returns to the fray next and by adding a tight hook and rhythmic bass he plays with the original “Soldiers” whilst introducing us to a new dimension of his art.  One for those who like to move their hips!

Last to step to the plate is the other half of the original twosome, Atjazz, who adds his usual individual approach to the affair.  A driving percussion and silky jazz notes take “Soldiers” to the next level and is a fitting finale to the EP.
