Atjazz – Fox Tooth, this ishh is gnarly!

Atjazz on Local Talk! Pretty good combo right? Well, just wait until you hear ”Fox Tooth” and we’re quite sure you’ll agree with us that this is something above normal rank. Martin Iveson aka Atjazz gave us a release that will work just as well on big sound systems as well in those dark house basements. Fox Tooth comes presented in two versions. The original version is an electronic house jam that’s equipped with all necessary tools in order to peak in the main room but without all the played out tech-house schemes. It’s uplifting yet dark and carves a very personal groove yum! Oh, don’t miss the killer break down…BIG! The second version comes in the form of his inspired (Atjazz Galaxy Aart Dub) and this to be fair is more of a remix than a dub. Here we step straight down to the darkness for a warming deep house cut that sounds like something from the Prescription archives but still retaining the trademark Atjazz sound. This is simply, sophisticated house music for those who like things real. – Local Talk Office.

Atjazz & OVEOUS – Soldiers Official Music Video

A seriously heavyweight co-op between NYC’s OVEOUS & the UK’s ATJAZZ!. Straight in the deep end with a four to the floor scorcher entitle “Soldiers”. The name itself may lead one to understand there could be a war going on in there, but not one of bombs, guns & missiles but a story of a war of acceptance in the face of ignorance. ATJAZZ had an energy he wanted to release and OVEOUS a serious story to tell. “Soldiers” is the outcome and your feet will thank you for it!. “Don’t be afraid of my black hoody!” – OVEOUS”.

Song Lyrics:

I am a colored man
From the motherlands
That painted both of my hands
With the ink of the Incas

The kind of people that made
Love to the ocean when they
were trying to sink us

When they told us that Jesus
could walk on water when they
Failed to defeat us

The fetus of our kind
Never hit rewind
And wind up
Giving life to freedom

Life to innovators
Life to heroes
Life to kingdoms

Life to soldiers
who Sacrifice their vices
To become righteous leaders

We are warriors of the Heart

And swing swords of compassion
In the face of your reaction
To my black hoodie

Stop being afraid of my black hoodie
Stop being afraid of my shadow

Shadows were meant
to have Your back
To secure the Love
you carry forward

I am the ink on your empty canvas
A picture on Your wall hanging

With memoirs of a bright future
Shining from a black sun

Did you forget  that we too
know how to kiss babies on their
foreheads

Now go ahead
and swim in the holy water
we used to baptize your principles

It’s not that difficult to remember us

They gave us February
But we celebrate all the way
to December

I don’t want you to just remember
I want you to become a soldier

Load up between your shoulders
With the gift of critical thinking

I’m singing a song about legacy
Against the plague of ignorance
As the enemy

Become a friend of me
And I will show you colors
That Love has never seen before

I am A soldier
Carrying language as my weapon
Leaving stains of scripture
Throughout History
To remind you

That you need this color
To make a masterpiece

Check out Martin Iveson’s Cobra on Youtube

More entertaining music from ARCo. head honcho Martin Iveson aka Atjazz. This time in the form of his well sought after ‘Cobra’, a song inspired by Indian Beer, yes!, it’s that basic. This song has been for the most of 2013 & 2014 rocking festival dance-floors, clubs & boat parties worldwide and Martin has kept this well polished jewel under his belt for quite some time. Backing Cobra up with a strong percussive backbone is the one and only Gabrielle Poso, a Yoruba Records regular and a dam fine human being, Clicking out Kalimba loops & conga rhythms really helps cobra to enter into an organic realm.

Pulling up along side Martin and dropping and amazingly well crafted deep workout is Yoruba Records’ very own Afefe Iku. A man who does not remix songs willy-nilly and a man that is quite difficult to pin down, Afefe Iku’s tight hold over his sonic output makes this collaboration nothing but an honour for all of us at Atjazz Record Company.

Atjazz launches sub-label – Less Than Ten

Atjazz Launches Strictly Minimal Ideas-Focussed Record Label

Less Than Ten is a new dance music label requiring production featuring less than ten running processes, an initiative that focuses on core creative ideas, rather than software-driven production techniques.
The new label is the brainchild of renowned producer, Martin ‘Atjazz’ Iveson, and is subsidiary of his increasingly popular independent label, Atjazz Record Company. The idea behind the Less Than Ten is a reaction to today’s production trends that centre more and more on software-driven digital capabilities, rather than creative writing and ultimately ideas-based music, an approach that Martin feels is progressively declining and yet is the essence of memorable, emotionally-driven music.

Check the first release:

Less Than Ten already boasts a roster of recognised artists which includes; Atjazz himself, Fred Everything, Andreas Saag, Si Tew, Karizma, Jullian Gomes with many more to be confirmed. Martin commented on his motivation behind Less Than Ten: “Dance music is awash with releases that fail to stand out and say anything new. By strictly limiting production techniques to less than ten processes, the writing method concentrates much more on emotion, innovation and new ideas and the forthcoming releases are something we’re really excited about and very proud of”.
Martin’s first album under the Atjazz moniker, 1998’s ‘That Something’, was written on Cubase using an Akai S3000xl sampler with just 2mb of ram, 2 effects units, a Fender Rhodes and a Korg O1W keyboard. It was then mixed on a 12 channel mixer straight to DAT tape. Martin commented: “The energy and ideas were the strengths and not having limitless options of sound was key to strong characterful music. It was how much energy, hard work and feeling went into making those productions that made them memorable”
A running process includes; a mono or stereo sound channel, an effect plugin, an EQ, an instrument plugin, a midi instrument from an external source, or an external drum machine with each drum sound being a separate process. Conversely, volume, panning and effect automation are not classed as running processes. Nor are mastering, DAW built-in channel EQ, side-chaining, effect sends, and audio chopping and editing.

Happy New Year 2014 :)

Atjazz Record Company wish you a very happy and healthy 2014 and also our warmest thanks for your continued support. x

This year we’ll be bringing you a plethora of amazing music, in the form of many artist albums and new imprint output. Atjazz will launch his new label “Less than 10” early this year focusing on ideas rather than large studio sound, he’ll also be dropping his new long player under his real name ‘Martin Iveson’ entitled ‘Galaxy Aart’. More from Martin with his collaboration with Si Tew as ‘Mist Works’, their album Network has been ‘almost finished’ for over 3 years and now it’s hatching from its incubation state, stay tuned for more on this very interesting project. Si Tew’s well anticipated 2nd album is set for release late April and South Africa’s ‘Thee Gobbs’ will be dropping his Debut album early summer. Let us not forget the other guys as they have also been working hard completing projects, DJ Tipz & TrueSelf both have debut albums released this year and these full length artist albums contain some of the deepest and sensual dance music we’ve ever heard and last but not least we welcome sir ‘Jullian Gomes’ to the family with brand new remixes of his classic ‘Love Song 28’. A lot to get through yes, but an incredible sound set for you to get your ears into. First up though before any of this hits the streets is the digital release of the fantastic album from Atjazz & Jullian Gomes ‘The Gift The Curse’, also Brandy’s ‘The Ritual’ including the secretive Atjazz Galaxy Aart Dub so keep your pennies in your pockets for a few more weeks as this year is #arcoyear #abitwordy #letsgetdancing #atjazz
