Here are the boys around the corner from the office, these next words became the catchphrase for the day!
“Brah, how do you walk in this ishh!” – Jullian Gomes
But seriously, thanks to DJ Tipz for driving over to hang out with Jullian before he leaves for home. Make sure you catch Jullian back in SA from next week, he’ll be around every weekend spinning the deepest songs around!
Atjazz & Jullian Gomes, Hailing from opposite sides of the world these two guys have traveling thousands of miles to come together in order to bring this wonderful release to the world. Overshadowed is mainly an instrumental workout featuring equal input from both producers. Based around the struggle to “make it in the music world” this song is full of strength & power and pushes through the underground fog which most of us have to fight through daily. Clean & sharp drums surrounded by afro-percussion drive this song while the emotional sequences bring in the combined stories of each musician. A truly heartfelt piece of work from two of the globes most dynamic electronic music writers.
Both Iveson & Gomes wear their hearts on their sleeves to bring you their own interpretations of Overshadowed and this put the perfect finish to the whole project. Because of the amount of effort and heart that has been dipped into the Overshadowed project, we’ve dropped in onto vinyl for that real touch. Keep it warm & keep it real.
Well, what a year it’s been so far, and what a year we still have to come. We’ve already seen the broken Silhouette from our electronic glitch master Si Tew & This month we have the wonderful Atjazz remixes of At One’sAfrican Healing Dance which has already been supported by the biggest of big guns Osunlade (Yoruba Records), Boddhi Satva (Vega Records), Simon Dunmore (Defected), Afronaught (Bugz In The Attic) + many many more. It seems that this particular dance is in fact healing people! This year also see’s a few new signings such as Pascal Morais, Deejay Kul, Pablo Fierro & Ernesto to name a few. We are also very proud to present our new project series presented by Atjazz, ‘Years Of The Abstract’, which will feature the best in left of center music from artists worldwide, more on this soon. And something for FREE?, yep!, now and again we like to give a little back and this time around we give to you two blinding Drum & Bass remixes from Devize & Shookz and Sasha Khan of the amazing Si Tew songs Independent Light and Vaguely Fading (Red). And last but not least, Overshadowed! Yep, our first Vinyl outing since the days of Mantis, A proud moment for both Jullian Gomes & Atjazz, almost selling out in two weeks, there are only a few plastic slabs left!
