Who is Tryangle Man? That’s a question a heck of a lot more people will be asking as he drops Dream Sequence 1544 on Atjazz Record Company. It’s a distinctive collection of deep electronic soundscapes, married with live elements to produce an intriguing, immersive long-player.
Legend has it that Tryangle Man is based in London, Paris & Beirut, with reports of sightings just seconds apart. Yeah, we’re just as baffled as you. An enigmatic figure, often seen standing amongst mixing desks, synths and outboard equipment, his most striking feature is his helmet that is rumoured to sustain him whilst within Earth’s atmosphere.
Dream Sequence 1544 takes us to incredible depths from the get-go. Tingling percussion, orchestral recesses and warm colourful sketches are all part of the journey. Pursuit, the first single, injects pace, rising chords and an ethereal-like mood. Night Jazz introduces itself with an uplifting jazz piano riff, but it’s not long before it cuts towards a more edgy, techy direction. Breaking Cycle forms a rich groove, laced with African percussion and a kalimba-like plucked riff keeping the pace. Then, we’re dropped into the depths of a hypnotic, impassioned, almost tranquilised vocal line announcing “I never meant to make you cry”, after which, we’re taken on an almost jacking groove odyssey. The album closes with the aptly named Epilogue. Beautiful chord sequences and an infectious groove signal the reluctant end to a superb night of music.
Wherever he’s from, Tryangle Man certainly brings unique ingredients and almost otherworldliness to Atjazz Record Company, a Derby, UK-based record label that’s already proving to be as eclectic as it is trailblazing. There is no question that Dream Sequence 1544 is an awesome release. The only question that remains, though, is who is Tryangle Man?
